仭What is "the new school"?仭
Seiki Kuroda and Keiichiro Kume studied in France from the 1880's and brought back
with them a new bright style of painting when they returned to Japan in 1893.
They used light blue or purple, instead of black or brown as the old school artists did.
That is why they are called the "the new school" or "the purple school".
